| DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN
On November 3, 1948, the day after incumbent United States President Harry S. Truman beat Republican challenger and Governor of New York Thomas E. Dewey in the 1948 presidential election, the front page of the Chicago Tribune carried this banner headline.
What made this such an infamous mistake was the picture of President Truman jubilantly displaying the Tribune's front page and proclaiming, "This is one for the books."
Remember that time in history with this lapel pin displays a miniature Chicago Tribune announcing the "news" to the world. |
