Cadogan Teapot $50.00

The Cardogan or topless teapot is named for the 1st Earl of Cadogan (1675-1726) who is said to be the first Englishman to own one.

Modern folklore tells of using the Cadogan Teapot in rail dining cars to avoid spilling tea, but we find no evidence to support such a claim. Go ahead and spin your own tale of disaster averted!

Perhaps the topless teapot is best known amongst those who enjoy puzzles. Examples of ceramic versions are found in puzzle collections such as the Indiana University Jerry Slocum Puzzle Collection. Another example of a Carogan teapot (or wine vessel) is found at the Gotheborg Chinese porcelain antiques web site.

Since it's made of borosilicate glass you can heat water to boiling in it over a gas flame. The teapot is filled most easily through the funnel at the bottom.

We recommend using distilled water to avoid mineral buildup.
