A spouting cylinder provides a way to show how pressure increases with depth. This one is about 16 inches (40 cm) in height and allows you to present an effective demonstration.
Simple in concept, the spouting tube can be used for students from the early grades. Older students may enjoy revisiting the spouting tube as their grasp of physical science increases. You can read more about how the fluid exit velocity varies as the fluid height decreases over time in our Spouting Cylinder Fluid Flow.
The spouting tube is of metal construction with a baked hammertone finish. (There's no chance of glass all over the lecture hall floor if it falls.) Three rubber stoppers are included with the cylinder as shown in the picture.
Dimensions: about 16" (40 cm) high, 3" (7.6 cm) tube diameter, 6" (15.2 cm) base diameter, apertures at 4", 8", and 12" (10.2 cm, 20.3 cm, and 30.5 cm). Exterior aperture size is about an inch (2.5 cm), interior opening is 5/8" (16 mm).
