A newly designed small Harbor Tug with a rudder. It is lithographed instead of painted and its hull sits high in the water.
This type of boat is known as a pop-pop or putt-putt boat. It is named for the popping or putting sound of its small steam engine. For information on how the steam engine (flash boiler) works click here.
An html version of our
steam engine cycle tutorial is found here.
An accessory pack included with each boat contains a bulb water primer, fuel holder, and a fuel candle. Additional candles may be purchased.
Not a young child's toy! Some edges may be sharp and, of course, an open flame is required to run the steam engine. These boats should be suited for most 13 years old and up, younger with a guardian "shipmate."
