Carpe diem - Enjoy the day. -Horace
Often translated as "sieze the day," carpe means pick or pluck. Horace uses it to mean "enjoy" or "make use of".
This sterling silver ring doubles as a sundial! The Latin phrase "Carpe diem" is engraved on the outside.
Here is how it works: Set the ring onto its flat section in a sunny location. Point the small hole toward the sun so that the shadow falls on the inner portion of the ring. A small bead of sun-light shines on the inner surface of the ring where the times of the day are engraved, telling you the correct time of day. Add one hour to obtain Daylight Saving Time. Directions are included with each ring.
The sundial is most accurate at a latitude of 40° North. Cities located near to this latitude include Ankara, Baltimore, Barcelona, Beijing, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, and Sacramento.
Available in whole sizes 5-11.
A unique ring to be treasured for a lifetime.
Made in the U.S.A. or Canada.
